Her brother filed a missing person report in July 2024, with help from relatives in the United States and Canada. He said the filing was delayed after Volusia County told him it had been receiving a high volume of prank calls. Her family says her husband claimed she may have left on her own and took no action, which is what prompted them to file the report themselves.

She is originally from Pangasinan in the Philippines and moved to the United States in 2007. She previously worked as a public school teacher at University High School in Orange City, Florida, and she has three children.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is conducting search operations in her case, and her family says their only goal is to confirm that she is safe.
