Circumstances
Oquendo-Carrero left her family home in Homestead, Florida on the afternoon of December 6, 1982 to walk to a corner store to buy candy. Family members say she reached the store and made a purchase, and a clerk saw her get into a waiting car outside. She was wearing a white t-shirt, blue and pink pants and beige and brown shoes, and both of her ears are pierced. She has never been heard from again. Her case remains unsolved.
