Guthrie disappeared with her two young children, Timothy, 3, and Julie, 6. At about 1:30 p.m. on February 5, 1977 she picked the children up at their father’s home on Grandview Avenue in Katonah, New York and drove away in a white 1974 Ford Maverick with a green roof and New York license plate 636-WNA. None of them has ever been heard from again, and the car has never been recovered. Guthrie was separated from the children’s father and living with her mother in White Plains; she took no clothing or personal belongings and withdrew no significant money before vanishing. The family was reported missing on February 6. She was wearing an old ski jacket, jeans and borrowed boots. Her case remains unsolved.
