Circumstances
Swanson was driving home to Marshall, Minnesota after celebrating the end of the college semester with friends on May 14, 2008 when his car became stuck in a ditch on a rural road. He called his parents for help and stayed on the phone with his father while walking toward lights he believed were the town of Lynd. Shortly after 2:00 a.m. he suddenly swore and the call ended abruptly. His car was later found near Taunton, about twenty miles from where he believed he was, and an extensive search of the area found no trace of him. He wears black wire-framed glasses and is legally blind in his left eye. His case remains unsolved.
