Pfaff was last seen at the Alpine Forest Mobile Home Park in Columbia, South Carolina on March 6, 1998, riding in a dark blue 1987 Chevrolet Astro minivan with the South Carolina license plate CAR 564. A television, radio and VCR were missing from his trailer. Pfaff is blind and left behind heart medication he needed. He has a leopard tattoo on his left arm and a receding hairline. His case remains unsolved.
