Earlier that day she dropped off coffee and tea to family at their home in Lexington. Late that evening she was last seen leaving the residence she shared with Ricky Lam on Druid Hills Drive, near Finch Park and the Abbotts Creek bridge, after an argument, and she reportedly left in his black Honda Pilot. Her family reported her missing to the Lexington Police Department the next day, September 23, 2024.

Her cell phone was found soon afterward near Abbotts Creek, and that area became a focus of ground, aerial, and water searches in Lexington and the wider Piedmont Triad.

She is the mother of an infant daughter, described by family as a homebody devoted to her work and her baby, and family say leaving without warning and leaving her daughter behind would be uncharacteristic.
